Resolution bingo: your 2027 resolutions on a bingo card
Resolution bingo turns your New Year’s resolutions into a bingo card. Each big resolution becomes a few small squares, so “Get fit” becomes “Walk 10 minutes after dinner” and “Try indoor climbing”. You mark a square when it happens, and a full line is a bingo.
There’s no streak to break. Miss a week and the card waits for you, with every square you marked still marked.
Why a bingo card instead of resolutions
A resolution is pass or fail. “Go to the gym every day” breaks on the first busy day, and once it’s broken, it’s easy to drop the whole thing.
If resolutions make you groan, you’re not alone. In early January 2026, Brandwatch looked at what people posted online about their New Year’s resolutions. Of the posts that sounded clearly positive or negative, 62.58% were negative, up from 58.25% a year earlier.
A bingo card changes the rules:
- Small squares, not big promises. “Get fit” becomes “Hold a plank for one minute” and “Try three different gym classes”. You can finish a square this week.
- No streaks. A missed week costs nothing. The squares you marked stay marked.
- A line is enough. Five squares in a row is a bingo on a 5×5 card. You don’t have to do it all to win.
- One card for the whole year. Health, money and fun share one card, so a slow month for one doesn’t sink the rest.

How to turn your resolutions into a bingo card
- 1Write down your resolutionsList the three to five things you’d usually promise. Don’t judge them yet.
- 2Break each one into squaresFor each resolution, write two to five small things you could do in a day or a week. The ideas below can help.
- 3Pick a card size9 squares fit one or two resolutions. 16 fit three or four. 25 hold a whole year.
- 4Spread them outPut each resolution’s squares in different rows, so every line has something easy. In the card maker, drag a square to swap it with another.
- 5Check in once a monthMark what you did and pick your next square. The second Friday of January, known as Quitters Day, makes a good first check-in.

- Keep the big goal, and add small ones. “Run a half marathon” can stay. Put “Run 5K without stopping” next to it.
- Make a square a reward. “Buy new running shoes” is a fine square after “Run three times in one week”.
- Tell a friend. Send them your card, or make cards together and compare lines in December.

Questions
- What is resolution bingo?
- It’s a bingo card made from your New Year’s resolutions. Each square is one small step, like “Bring lunch from home for a week”. You mark squares as you do them, and a full row, column or diagonal is a bingo.
- Why use a bingo card instead of resolutions?
- A resolution breaks the first time you miss a day. A bingo card has no streaks: miss a week and your marked squares stay marked. And you don’t need every square, because one line is a win.
- What should I put on a resolution bingo card?
- Take each resolution and write a few small steps for it. Mix squares you could do this week with two or three big ones. The lists on this page break eight common resolutions into nine squares each.
- What if I fall behind?
- Nothing breaks. Look at your card once a month, mark what you did, and pick one square for the next few weeks. A card that’s half done in June is still half a year of wins.
- Can I make one with friends or family?
- Yes. Each person makes a card and shares the link, and you can open each other’s cards to see what’s marked. When someone marks a square and saves, their link changes, so they send the new one.
- Is it free?
- Yes. The card maker is free, with no sign-up. Your card lives in its own link: share the link or print the card.
- When should I start?
- Any time in January, or later. If your resolutions have already slipped, the second Friday of January, called Quitters Day, is a good day to switch to a card.
